This, That and the Other..

There is no particular order to his posting.
I attempted to have a candy making day the other day....and failed...I found green maraschino cherries. I had never seen green before! The tasted the same as the red ones. My Christmas mice kind of looked a bit mutant like with them, (and Thad helped and decapitated half of the mice) but they tasted good.
Mutant Mice.
Thad loves jello. Grandma made some the other day....We turned around to see him sneaking the jello.
I did a several trades this year, to get some presents for the kids, as well as for my niece and nephews. These Repunzel hats though were delayed in the mail, and they didn't get them until Tuesday.
Thad sneaking the divinity. He LOVES it!
Abby loves her Larry Boy hat.
Thad's totally awesome tractor hat. He's getting a little better about leaving the hats on.
I think we just might have two of the silliest girls around. :-)
Daphne had her 4th birthday on the 5th. Justin took her to build a bear and she chose smurfette.
Like I said, there is no order to these pictures.. LOL This is Thad's Yoda hat that he got for Christmas. I failed this year and didn't bring out the camera until all the presents were unwrapped.

Christmas Eve, in their new jammies and getting ready to hang up their stockings. This was the first year that we actually stayed home for Christmas Eve/Christmas. It was kind of nice...
This is Daphne's birthday dress. I let her pick out the fabric. She loves her princess dress and still wants to wear it all the time. :-)
Apparently Daddy reads the best stories.
Yeah, just a little behind...Happy Thanksgiving!

Project: A Princess Christmas

Dear friends.

The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and with that in mind, I would love to do my part in helping make some little girl(s) Christmas a bit brighter. I would like your help to find a needy or deserving family with one or maybe even two little girls who would love to receive a fancy dress for the holidays.

If you would like to nominate someone to receive this little Christmas gift, please send me an e-mail to huckleberrycorner@gmail.com or Facebook private message, to preserve the family's privacy, with some details including age and size.

What a wonderful surprise it will be for some little girl or girls to receive a package in the mail containing a beautiful Christmas dress. Nominations will be accepted through Thanksgiving Day. Thanks so much for your help.

Jusitn's new toy

I got Justin a new game and racing wheel. Though, I'm not sure who is more excited about the wheel, Justin, or Thad. :-)

I found this princess material on Walmart.com a little while ago, and decided to finally do something with it. I had to bed Daphne to try it on, once it was done. But after she didn't want to take it of "But mom! It's my favorite dress!!" I think I might have to make her one similar for her birthday in December. As it is, this one sold is being shipped to Missouri, if I remember correctly. :-)

More dresses and Abby's KISS

After I posted the first picture of the Satin ruffle dress on my Huckleberry corner page, I had a gal ask for 2 of them for her daughters! I lucked out that they were the same size as my girls, so they were able to try the dresses on so I could get a picture of them! I felt bad a first, charging as much as I did for the dresses, but after talking to several people about it, I don't feel so bad anymore. LOL!
r
The red one was just me playing around with fabric. I love making things for people, and making a few dollars while I am at it.

Last Friday, I got an e-mail from Abby's teacher in the middle of the day. She said that there had been an incident at school that day. Abby had kissed a boy, and then when her teacher asked her about it, she lied. When Abby got home, it took a good 20 minutes for her to FINALLY tell me what happened. She was so upset. In Kindergarten, there was a boy in her class that she insisted she was going to marry someday. Well apparently it was this same boy that she "kissed". 3 times! Abby said "He kept coming back!!!" LOL We proceeded to have a conversation about appropriate times for kissing.... At school is not ok...and at 7 years old, is NOT OK. LOL Watch out teenage years!!

Fabulous!

I made a dress on Saturday...It is my favorite dress at this point. (I gave it to a lady in my ward. She was so excited! It is awesome to see people so excited!)

I was looking online for ideas for a ruffle dress, and saw someone post asking if they knew anyone that did this style of dress. I figured, it was really close to what I was already doing, only with the cut away in the front, and lots of ruffles! :-) So cute!!! I can't wait to make more :-)

Picture

Here is the picture Tiffany...I couldn't really get a good one of her hair though, it kind of blends in this time (THANKFULLY).
Okay blogger....POST...anytime now....

Failed... Already

I think I am giving up on the Alphabet challenge already. I know. I fail. :-P

I had someone today ask if I would mind sharing my pattern for my latest dress.. First off, I don't really have a pattern...I have the pattern I use for the bodice, and the rest from there have been modifications of the pattern. It would probably take me longer to actually come up with a hard copy of a pattern, than to actually make the dress. LOL

Daphne decided to take the scissors to one of the outfits that I made for her...she cut off the sash, and part of the ruffle...It wouldn't have been so bad if she'd just cut off the sash, but she had to proceed to cut the sash into a bunch of tiny little pieces.. Sigh...

C is for Cat

Our cat is silly. She hides of out of the day, away from the kids. (No, I cannot blame her. I would hide under the bed all day too if I could get away with it).

Once the kids are in bed, she likes to sit on top of the rocking chair, and swat and whoever walks by. The dogs like to chase her under the bed, several times a day, but occasionally, Dolly and Millie will go back and forth chasing each other.

While I am the one that wanted the cat, she is definitely Justin's cat most days. She likes to him better. She will sleep by his head some nights, and will also sit by the computer and watch him play late into the evening.

B is for the Big Nasty Hillclimb

The Big Nasty Hillclimb is my cousin's event that he puts on every year. Last year while we were there, I decided that I was going to have a booth there this year. I wasn't sure how I would do. I didn't go in with really high expectations, but I did REALLY WELL!! I am already making plans on how I can make next year even better! It was a lot of work, but it was also I lot of fun.

Thad thought that the motorcycles were the COOLEST thing! Every time one would drive past, he would turn his head and point and go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!" His excitement to watch the bikes was too cute. He is definitely a boy!!!

A is for Abby

Abby, Abby, Abby.
She has started 2nd grade, and absolutely LOVES it! It is amazing what a difference a good teacher can make. She has such a horrible year last year, especially towards the end of the year. It's good to see her smiling and excited when she comes home from school, and excited to go every morning. As opposed to her hiding under our bed crying because she doesn't want to go.

She has also decided that she likes to wear some of the items that I've made now. Which is nice. Earlier in the year she told me that she didn't like the clothes that I made for her, and asked me not to make her anymore! LOL The outfit above, I was going to sell it. I asked her to try it on, so I could take a picture. Once she got it on, she asked if she could have it! Of course! And she's even worn it several times since!
Some of the kids at school, still aren't very nice to her. It amazes me how mean and rude kids this age can be! She told me a few weeks ago that a girl on her bus got in trouble while they were waiting to get on it after school.. When I asked her why, she said because the girl came up and spit on Abby's head. I asked her why, and she said "Because she doesn't like me". Luckily the teacher saw, and the girl got in trouble. As opposed to last year, where the teacher did NOTHING when crap like this happened.

ALPHABET CHALLENGE

Since I've been a complete and total slacker at blogging lately, I have decided that I will try the Alphabet Challenge.. Wish me luck!

Blogger is finally letting me load pictures!!

WOW! It's been a while!

So it's been several months since I updated this last! I've been slacking.

Things have been as busy as ever. I have been sewing a lot, and actually making a few dollars doing it. I have also been selling new dresses. My sister in law hosted my first "Dress Party" this last week. It was pretty fun. I've got 2 more of them booked and other people interested in holding one as well. You can see all the fun stuff I've been making and selling at Huckleberry Corner.

We got a kitty a few weeks ago. Her name is Dolly. I have always wanted a long haired black and white cat! She is a very mellow kitty. She spends more of the day hiding from the kids. lol The other day my friend was over with her little dog, and Dolly was stalking him. It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. The dog was TERRIFIED of the little cat.

My sister and her family, and brother and his family were all here a couple of weeks ago. It was so fun to be able to have all the family together! The little girls had a modeling session, with some of the dresses I've been selling. They had a ton of fun, and some really cute pictures came out of it! You can see the Princess Photo Shoot pictures. We also had new family pictures taken, and they turned out really good also!

I was going to try to load pictures on here, but either blogger or my laptop is being ornery, and not wanting to let me.

I will try to be better about updating this thing!

The last few weeks

Just a few of the skirts I've made the last two weeks or so. Been keeping myself busy! And still hoping to make a couple of dollars off of them. No such luck yet though.

Abby and Daphne wearing makeup that Abby recieved as a birthday present. So beautiful, huh

I just LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY!!!

For Abby's birthday party, we went to Pizza Hut, and then Jumpin Jungle. Abby was still not feeling 100%. She got overly excited at Jumping jungle, started coughing really hard and threw up...Thus getting her kicked out. That sucks when you get kicked out of your own birthday party.

cute kids

Cutest smile ever! I had been looking around for a bathseat for a long time. I finally found one on clearance at Walmart. Obviously the big guy likes it! :-) Doesn't he look so handsome in his sunday getup? I love this little guy!
Abby wanted me to make her a cape, since Daphne got one. LarryBoy is her FAVORITE superhero. I thought it turned out okay. I couldn't find any larryboy embroidery designs so I attempted to make an applique. I guess it worked :-) Even if Abby did say "It doesn't really look very good, does it"
Tyra loves to sleep.. Anywhere...Everywhere.
I came home from a late night shopping trip to find the three of them asleep on the chair. It was too cute. :-) Justin doesn't really like the doggies sleeping on him.. I think Tyra has figured out that she has to wait til he is asleep to sneak in. :-)
The kids have been sick the last few days. Thad has had a really bad cold, and Abby has had a fever and throwing up. Abby has been laying on the cough for the last two days, hardly moving. For those of you that know our kids, know that is not normal. lol
