Farewell Chirstmas Tree

We took down our Christmas tree today. I think that this may be the last year of real trees at our house...at least for a while. I have always loved real trees over fake, but after this year. I'm tired of pine needles. Between the two girls, there were hardly any needles left on the branches, as you can see in the picture. That is pretty much how the bottom quarter of the tree looked.
This was the pile left after taking the tree out. The sad part is, we vaccumed under the tree less than a week ago...and we vaccumed up close to this amount 3-4 times since getting the tree. It's amazing that there were any needles left on that poor tree!

Davis Family Christmas Party

It was the Davis Family Christmas party in Pocatello this last weekend. We caught a ride down with my parents in their truck. It was fun. It was at a gymnastics like place again. The girls had a lot of fun, as did Justin. I sat back and took pictures.

What now??????

We had our ultrasound today...the picture doesn't get more obvious than that!! Our kids have no modesty. lol

We have to go back for another ultrasound next month. They want to get a better look at the heart. Not that they think there is a problem, just want a better look when it's a little bigger. It will be fun to get another glimps of our little one.

Thankful for my parents and other forgotten posts

Last week, my mom IM'd me on facebook, and asked if me and the girls wanted to go with them to pick out a Christmas tree. So I bundled the girls up, and out we went. It was 5 degrees outside while picking out a tree. Brrr!! My mom told me and the girls to pick out a tree, since I had forgotten to bring my purse. My parents were so nice to bring it out to us the next day, and even set it up, since Justin was at work. This picture was so cute. Both girls had to help Grandpa set it up. It was so funny to watch.

The day before Daphne's birthday, we went to the Boise Mall, so Daphne could get a new build a bear. That is kind of become Justin's tradition with the girls, to take them on their birthdays. With #3 on the way, I wonder how much longer we can afford this tradition. :-) Daphne picked out the snow leopard, which she calls her kitty.

Abby had had a loose tooth for a little while. She was sure she was going to lose it at school that day. Nonetheless, we picked her up before heading out to Boise, and the tooth was still intact. We stopped by my parents, to see if my mom wanted to go with us to the mall. While on the way to Boise, Abby's tooth got significantly looser. When we got to the mall, Justin yanked it out for her. She was so excited to loose another tooth. That makes #3 for her.

Happy Birthday Daphne!

Daphne had her 2nd birthday today. I can't believe it's been 2 years already. She had so much fun unwrapping her presents. :-)

date set!

We will be having our ultrasound Dec. 15th. It will be nice knowing finally if it's a boy or a girl. At first Abby was insistant it was a boy, because she "already had a sister". But lately she's decided she wants another sister. Justin as well thinks it's probably another girl. I guess we'll see! Feel free to cast your vote on the cheesy poll I just added. :-)

Almost Halloween part 2

Downtown Nampa had their trick or treat festivities today, so we took the girls down, once Abby got out of school. Daphne had previously decided that she was going to wear a carebear costume (since I didn't get a chance to get a red cape down for her as well). When it came time to put the costume on, she FREAKED out. So we pulled out some of the extra costumes I've picked up at quarter sale, to see what she would let us put on her. She refused the doggie costume, she ALMOST let us put on the unicorn one, but then changed her mind. She then saw the black pleather biker outfit and insisted on that. That was it, she wouldn't have anything else. LOL. It just makes me laugh, I'm sure her grandma Johnson would be so thrilled by that. :-)
For Abby's school, they were allowed to bring a costume for a character from a book, or famous person. She decided on Little Red Riding Hood a while ago. So with my mom's help, we whipped up the cape in no time. It looks really cute on her. Once Halloween is over, I'm going to put some fur on the hood, and then she can wear it when she wears her fancy dresses around the Holidays.
We'll see if we can get Daphne to wear the Carebear outfit tomorrow. She's going to need the extra warmth!

Almost Halloween

Our stake had an Adult Halloween dance this last weekend. I really wanted to go, and actually dress up for it. Justin normally isn't into the whole dress up thing. Most Halloweens he wears a shirt that says "this IS my Halloween custume". Very creative, huh. This year, we were at the store and looking at Halloween costumes, and he found a cloak that he thought was really cool. So I set out to try to make him one similar to it. He was SOOO funny to watch wearing that thing. It was just like the girls when they get a new dress up outfit. Twirling it around, making it flow in the breeze. LOL. It does make it worth the time making it, know that he liked it that much. As for me, I had no idea what to do for me. So i settled for making a flappers dress. It would have been more fun, had I had more fringe, but I didn't want to spend any more money on these custumes, and used what I already had at home. Now, I need to make the girls little red capes for this weekend. They both want to be Little Red Riding hood. We'll see how that goes.

ultrasound

I had an ultrasound like 2 weeks ago. I just hadn't gotten around to posting it. It's slowly becoming a little more real...it was neat during the ultrasound to see the little arms and legs...i can't wait for a few more months, to have the next ultrasound.

Look at me Ma!

This weekend, I canned grape jelly all by myself. lol I have helped my parents can for years, but never attempted to do it on my own. I had a friend come over and help with some of it, which definately helped.. Since we have a glasstop stove, I borrowed my dad's campstove and put the canners outside. It worked out really well. I am excited to give this stuff away. (Since I can't have grape stuff anymore anyways.)

What a couple of weeks

Abby started school.. Justin interviewed, was offered, and started a new position at work...Found out the prior post...Justin's sister got married...got a new calling at church. It has been a lot of things and I'm freaking out! lol

Abby loves school, and she seems to be doing really well. I was worried that she might get into a lot of trouble talking and not listening, but it sounds like she is doing alright. She is excited, because she finally has homework. A booklet to complete over the next month.

Justin started a new postion at work. He is excited about it. There is a little pay increase, but he's schedule changed, and now he works the first part of the week. He is excited to FINALLY have weekends off like normal people. He has felt like he missed out on a lot of family things because he was always working weekends.

I haven't gone to the Dr yet...still not sure how I feel about it all. Not sure how I am going to deal with 3 kids. According to an online due date calander, looks like I am due in April.

I was asked on Sunday if I would be a Primary teacher, and be released from Webelos. I finally felt like I was FINALLY getting organized enough, and figuring a few things out..and then they released me. Oh well.

I don't have change very well as it is....and there has been a lot of it the last few weeks.

I thought this picture of the girls and Justin's sister was too cute.

Abby's first day!!

Here is Abby all ready to go to bed, the night before she started school! She was so excited, I don't think she got to sleep until after 11:00pm that night.

Wednesday morning, the excitement was still buzzing. It makes me laugh, she looks so sleepy in this picture to me, but still happy. lol

Here is Abby just before going into the school!

On our way home, after her first FULL day of kindergarten!

I can't believe that it's already here. She has been excited about going to school since she was 2! For those following our drama in making the choice of what school to go to, we finally decided to send her to the regular public school rather than the charter school. It came down to money and justin will be to have a little more time with Justin this way. I am happy thus far with our choice (of course there has only been one day of school). She goes Wednesday and Friday, and every other Monday, all day long. The house felt so strange yesterday while she was at school. It is going to take some getting used to, that is for sure.

I was sure that I was going to cry when she went into her class. As we walked up to the door of her classroom, Abby started jumping up and down in excitement. It was so cute to see her so excited. I hope that she has a good experience, and a teacher that knows how to deal with her. When I picked Abby up, I asked her teacher how she did, and she replied "she did really good. She does like to talk, a lot, doesn't she." LOL That's made me laugh. I love my little girl!

Getting ready for school

Abby starts school on Wednesday. I am so not ready for this yet! So tonight, I gave Abby a haircut. She wanted her hair cut up to her chin, but I told her no. I really didn't take that much off, just kind of evened it off on the bottom. It looks so much healthier now! I figured that she really didn't want her hair cut that short, she takes such pride in the fact that she has longer hair than all her cousins. :-)
This is only like the 3rd time her hair has been cut. Her bangs once, and a couple of inches taken off a year or two ago.

Wheels4Grant

My brother Jeff and his family are trying to raise enough money to buy their son a new wheel chair. The insurance will cover around $30,000 for the chair, but they will have to come up with another $10,000. If you have any desire to help, I know that they would be grateful. If you want to read more about his story, you can check it out here. http://wheels4grant.blogspot.com

Another Day in the Pool

We decided to indulge Abby's wild side and put the trampoline next to the pool so she could jump in. After doing several jumps, she jumped and belly flopped into the pool. I told her not to do that anymore, she could get hurt. On her last jump, of course, belly flop again. When she stood up she said "mom, that did kind of hurt just a little bit" lol Luckily I got a pretty cool picture on that last jump.

This girl is absolutely fearless when it comes to water.

summer fun

We filled up our little pool the other day, and let the girls get in yesterday. They both had a lot of fun. It was extremely amusing for us though, when it was time for them to get out, and saw Daphne. Justin mistakenly grabbed a pull up, instead of a swim diaper. Amazing how much those things can absorb!

LOL...it still makes me laugh!!

having fun!

I made these for the girls this last week. I saw the idea for the skirt online, and thought "I could do that!!" They weren't too hard to do, but a bit time consuming...I spent over 2 hours doing the pleating for the ruffles. I got the red shirts at the dollar store, and found a free watermelon embroidery design. My mom helped me cut down the shirt for daphne, since they only had size 6 in that red shirt. We also added elastic on the bottom and a little ribbon. They turned out pretty cute. It still makes me laugh though, before Daphne was born, I probably wouldn't have put Abby in something like this. But I'm starting to like girly/frilly things on them. lol I love creating things and having them turn out! The feeling of success is great! Then seeing the girls excitement for getting something new, is even greater! :-)

joys of motherhood

The other night I started the bathtub for the girls. The phone rang right after I started the water, so I shut the door behind me, so that the girls wouldn't be playing in the water while I was on the phone. I turn around to see the bathroom door open and Abby going potty, and surprised to see Daphne. She was so thrilled to be in the tub and got so upset when I made her get out to remove the wet clothing.

mario quilt

I did this quilt for my nephew for his 6th birthday. It didn't turn out very big, but it did look really cute. And his reaction when he looked at it was priceless! It took a while to get all the squares done, and I did end up enlisting the help of a friend with a couple of them. I am glad that he enjoyed it!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

We had the Davis Family reunion this last weekend. It was a lot of fun to see the family again. I was busy up until the day we left, trying to get stuff together for it. It was loads of fun!!

Today we had a little nightgown making day at the church. We had a few people show up. I wasn' table to get Abby's done at the church, so I had to do it tonight. (since she was disappointed I hadn't gotten it done at the church) I am glad to be able to sit back and relax for a little bit.

Nightgown making Day

**Check back for more picture updates::

Tuesday July 7th, 1:00-4:00, at the church. (if you want to come, let us know, so we can be sure to have enough tables set up)

Anyone that wants to come and participate in a nightgown making day. Whether you want to make one for yourself, for your daughter/granddaughter, neice, etc.. Bring your sewing machines, as well as fabric. If you don't have a machine, come anyways, we'll probably have enough to share. Stretchy knits work the best for these types of nightgown. Also bring a T-shirt that fits, and you'll cut a pattern off of it. (Unless of course you have pattern for something else you want to do). If the fabric is 60 inches wide, you will probably need your length (from the back of your neck to however long you want it) unlesss you want it really full, then twice the length. The fabric is 45 inches wide, then you will probably need twice your length. A really easy way to finish these nightgowns off is to put lace around the bottom as well as the sleeve. You'll need probably 3-4 yards of lace to do this. (or I can show you how to do a little flutter sleeve that's pretty easy too). If you have any questions, e-mail me at jandhjohnson@msn.com

Here are some examples of the nightgowns I've done for my girls. Maybe it will give you some ideas. :-)

too cute

I took this picture the other day, and I just LOVE it!!

I have been making the girls nightgowns, and they have been turning out so cute. :-) It's fun to create things and have them actually turn out!

Classic Daphne

For those of you who know Daphne....you know this face well. It just cracks me up! She glares at EVERYONE, especially people she doesn't know like (which is almost everyone). Maybe some day she will decide to become a people person.
She went to Nursery for the first time on Sunday. She stayed the whole time! I was impressed. I just hope that she will keep this up! I went out to check on her several times. There was only once that she was crying, but she actually let someone pick her up and she stopped. I'm hoping that I won't have to stay in Nursery all the time with her, like I did with Abby. I really don't want to be in nursery again, at least right now.
